wio: Modular Weather Station

Wio is a modular weather station that incorporates everything that secluded.io have learnt during our lifetime.

Wio is a modular weather station that incorporates much of the accumulated technology & knowledge that we have built up during the lifetime of secluded.io. The weather station has a variety of standard components such as wind, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, UV and rainfall sensors. But it doesn’t stop there – a variety of additional sensors can also be added, such as cameras, frost detection, air quality, soil moisture/PH and even radiation. The station connects wirelessly to the weather underground service via a variety of different networking systems (eg. wifi, cellular & satellite) but can also utilize mesh networking to form a distributed weather station around a large property. Stations are low power, can run on batteries alone or be recharged by solar panels or micro wind turbines. Wio is a turn-key product but can also be purchased in kit form for educational use eg. it is currently planned for use in the Australian outback as a technology education tool. We intend to make the plans for the non-electronic components of the product available digitally for hobbiest production on 3D printers, CNC and laser cutters.

tio: Feral Animal Trap Monitoring

Our trap monitoring sensors work with a variety of different traps including cage, corral and leg hold traps. They are designed to work in areas where network coverage is low. They are smart enough to mesh network together when deployed as a group.

Our trap monitoring sensors work with a variety of different traps including cage, corral and leg hold traps. They are designed to work in areas where network coverage is low – using cellular data (with fallback to SMS). They are smart enough to mesh network together when deployed as a group. They are optimized for very long battery life and incorporate pro-active maintenance features, such as battery health monitoring and robust over-the-air updates. The sensors are currently being trialed in the South East Queensland area on Feral Dog, Fox, Cat & Deer traps – promptly alerting rangers when traps have been triggered so they can get to the traps promptly, and meet their animal welfare responsibilities. By monitoring the traps in this way, and helping local authorities to be smarter with their resources, a much larger area can be covered. We are also gathering extremely valuable data, allowing scientists to research the growth and movement of these feral animals better and help improve control and eradication programs.

gio: Gate Monitoring

Our gate monitoring sensors are designed to work in areas where network coverage is low – using cellular data (with fallback to SMS) and satellite data when needed.

Our gate monitoring sensors are designed to work in areas where network coverage is low – using cellular data (with fallback to SMS) and satelite data when needed. They are optimized for very long battery life with solar top-up and incorporate pro-active maintenance features, such as battery health monitoring and robust over-the-air updates. The sensors are currently being used on the Rabbit Proof Fence in the Darling Downs Rabbit Board area (Queensland, Australia) to ensure that gates along the fence are accurately monitored – promptly alerting nearby landholders and Rabbit Board rangers when gates are left open. By monitoring the gates this way, we are helping to protect the Darling Downs food-bowl from rabbits, which cause an estimated $600M damage outside the fenced area.
